Lin Dan, China's world No 1 badminton player, won the men's singles in the China's National Games on Wednesday, People's Daily reported. The victory made the record holder become the first Chinese athlete to be the champion of the men's singles in three straight National Games.
Li Tianyi
Lawyers for Li Tianyi, the son of China's famous military singers Li Shuangjiang and Meng Ge, have requested the court to open one more session on Wednesday, Beijing Youth Daily reported.
Li was accused of gang rape and was tried late last month for two consecutive days. The lawyer said the requirement is made to prevent an unjust, false and erroneous case. He also charged judge of Li's case for abusing judicial power.

Empty villas
A group of villas, covering an area of 258 square kilometers in the Baodi district of Tianjin, 60 kilometers away from the urban area of Tianjin, is now partly abandoned, Xinhua News Agency reported.
The building group is known as the biggest villa area in Asia, but now the occupancy rate is around 30%, falling from the previous 50% in 2009 and 2010.
White lie
A woman surnamed Shen lied to her own daughter, nicknamed Chengcheng, for 13 years that she was adopted in order to cultivate her independence, Shenyang Evening News reported. She told Chengcheng the truth when she graduated from college and found a good job.
Antique secret
Xu Baozhong, 59 years old, spent every weekend looking for an ancestral old object at antique markets in Beijing, which he sold secretly when he was 14 years old for a pair of gym shoes, Beijing Evening News reported.
The old object was used for laying hats in old times, and Xu said he will buy it back no matter how much it costs when he finds it.
Starving fee
More than ten students were driven out of a classroom for not paying the 460-yuan fee for meals at Spring Blossom School in Chongqing's Bazhou city, Huaxi Metropolitan newspaper reported.
Li Zhichun, the principal, explained the school charge the fee in order to provide a safe and healthy environment for resident students.
